The urine of a girls in a certain population was tested by Professor Philip Landrigan. He found that the heavier ones had more phthlates in their urine – a link that a more sinister reason for weight problems have been plaguing modern society since the invention of shampoos and other cosmetic products with phthlates.

Harmful Chemicals

Aside from the possible weight gain, other chemicals contained in hair care products can also be harmful. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate for example can irritate the scalp. Some studies show that it may even be carcinogenic. While waiting for scientists to finally determine if it is carcinogenic, it is best to steer clear from this ingredient.

Shampoo that has parfum content should also be avoided, according to experts.

Natural Hair Care
