Women’s Natural Hair Care

Posted by: headm on: July 13, 2013

There are so many shampoos, conditioners, and other hair care products out there that it’s usually difficult to choose which brand to use. While the wealth of choices is a good thing for consumers, products that are not made from natural ingredients can be harmful.

Your Shampoo Can Make You Fat

There’s emerging evidence of chemical calories in shampoo and soap and other beauty products. According to the experts from New York’s Mount Sinai Medical Center, phthlates -ingredients usually contained in shampoo and other cosmetic products can make you gain weight. The urine of a girls in a certain population was tested by Professor Philip Landrigan. He found that the heavier ones had more phthlates in their urine – a link that a more sinister reason for weight problems have been plaguing modern society since the invention of shampoos and other cosmetic products with phthlates.

Harmful Chemicals

Aside from the possible weight gain, other chemicals contained in hair care products can also be harmful. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate for example can irritate the scalp. Some studies show that it may even be carcinogenic. While waiting for scientists to finally determine if it is carcinogenic, it is best to steer clear from this ingredient.

Shampoo that has parfum content should also be avoided, according to experts.

Natural Hair Care

While natural hair care products are hard to find, there are a few out there that are really made from natural ingredients (see a list of natural wellness ingredients at www.juniperdesert.com). One has to note though that not all natural hair care products are good for the hair because there are still some natural ingredients that can irritate your scalp. To add to the predicament of finding the perfect shampoo, some products that label themselves as natural or organic are not 100 percent organic. So what should you do? Aloe vera is one good alternative. In fact, you can grow this in your garden and don’t have to buy shampoo anymore.
