Posted by: headm on: May 22, 2012

Lots of folks believe that Japanese is a tough language to master. In reality, the language is much simpler to learn compared to English because of their lower vowel count. For a new learner, a language with too many vowels becomes tough to master because vowel sounds are harder to understand. Compared to English, the total number of vowels found in Japanese is 50% less making it easier to learn Japanese.

If you simply start off by listening to audio CDs with instructors repeating Japanese words and their English translation, you can learn most of the common terms and phrases real quick. After that, start using flashcards with more traditional Japanese words to further expand your vocabulary. Once you have got a certain working knowledge of this language, search for Japanese conversation groups and enroll into their daily or weekly meetings. This shall provide you an opportunity to mingle and learn the language even faster by helping each other. Better yet find someone who already knows the language quite well and ask them to help you out by communicating with you in Japanese.

Japanese is a language that is both fun and interesting to learn. Moreover, on your next visit to an oriental country, you shall be surprised to find just how easy it is to learn other oriental languages because of your prowess in Japanese.
